I’m a former elementary / early childhood teacher turned professional newborn / infant / toddler nanny. I started nannying in 2018 and fell in love with it as a career. I'm passionate about all thing's development from birth to the age of 2. I’m a CACHE certified newborn care specialist and a postpartum doula.
My approach to childcare is based on RIE® and Montessori. I raise independent, curious, resilient kids. I see babies as capable of being an active participant in routines and experiences. I encourage uninterrupted independent child-led play that allows me to observe which interests and skills that they are working on. I promote independence and self-sufficiency skills by participating in life skills. I believe in consistent limits and boundaries that set up clear expectations for behavior. I use empathetic connection, co-regulation techniques, and logical consequences to help toddlers find their way in the world.
I provide a very language-rich environment with lots of talking, singing, and reading. I use American Sign Language with my charges to give them language to communicate from a young age.
I start from day one setting up healthy sleep habits that later transition into independent sleep. I use daily routines and rituals to create a rhythm for our day, which provides comfort and a sense of security and allows children to build self-confidence and self-control.
Gross motor skill development is a topic near and dear to my heart. I make sure my nanny kids learn how to navigate their spaces safely by giving them developmentally appropriate opportunities to take risks and the freedom to challenge themselves.
I believe that kids need to be outdoors every single day. My charges spend time getting dirty, playing in nature, and learning to appreciate the natural world.
